Welcome packet

So I have finally received the welcome packet from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. At first, there were so much info, I was absolutely overwhelmed!
Of course, my lovely husband helped me a lot...keeping my nerves and sanity in control.
Here are the small list of things to do...just a small list.

1) Book my ticket to St. Kitts---> send itinerary to my student coordinator.
2) Get HIV, TB, and VDRD (syphilis ) Test done for my health certificate.
3) Get Rabies and Hep A/B vaccines (2 series)
4) Get booster vaccine for my tetanus.
5) Get a physician to sign off on my vaccines, lab test and on my physical exam.
6) Fill in application form for my student housing: requesting a double unit because Gavin will be joining me.
7) Get my birth certificate (family register in japan and get it translated by the American embassy)
8) Read through my student handbook and student housing handbook.

I am still excited about going to St. Kitts, but the reality of attending veterinary school has not sunk in yet. I wonder how long it would take.... ;)

More people signed on to the FB group I've created and we have the whooping 9 people signed up. That is out of 80 people that is supposedly in the class. ;) Hope someone finds this blog and join the group!

FB group

I have created a FB group page for my class. Not many people has signed up yet, which is making me worried. Maybe I am the only one excited to go to Ross? Or maybe I just don't have patience. :) I did just create it yesterday~
So the pre-welcome packet came yesterday. It said the "welcome packet is on it's way." I was expecting a thick envelope package that we used to get when we were waiting to hear back from the colleges we applied back in high school. Back then, we couldn't "check our status online" so the waiting game was over when you either saw a big envelope in the mail if you were accepted, or a small letter if you were denied.
Well the letter I received looked as if I was denied, but was relieved to see the acceptance letter in it.

I am trying to prepare for school, since I have been doing nothing but working the last few years.
So I have decided to read Fluid Therapy book my dad recommended and try to write in my blog as often as I can accustom myself on taking notes and writing on my computer.

waiting game

I realized that since submitting the application to Ross University, it has been nothing but a waiting game.
Waiting on results of my application from the admissions were the longest 4 weeks of my life. Now I have been accepted and waiting on my documents to arrive. It is just pure stress. I know my life is going to change drastically once I land on the island, but until Jan, it's all about getting ready to start my life at St. Kitts.
I had (or still in it) my first wave of depressing moments. I enjoyed the honeymoon stage; researching about living on the island, reading through blogs of vet student who are/were there, and just imagining how FUN it would be to live in the Caribbean island.
Then, reality hits.
I am about to enter not only vet school, but an accelerated vet school.
My mid-semester break is only ONE day and apparently there is a week called "hell week" where students have 4 test in one week and another test on the following Monday.
I can tell you how much I slacked off as a student as an undergrad, so I can see how much of my "hard-work" is going to pay off.
Yet, I am fully aware in my head, that once I get there, I will be so overwhelmed and excited that I would not have the time to be depressed or stressed out...which means I just have too much time in my hands right now!!!!!
I don't expect the documents to arrive this week. It's likely it will arrive sometime next week, so till then, I need to keep myself occupied with work or something, otherwise I am and will drive my husband insane.

Speaking of my husband, I cannot thank him enough for putting up with my life drama.
I know it is not easy for him to leave Japan because he loves it so much. I am just really glad and excited about going to the Caribbean with him!!!
