My Japanese lesson
Yesterday, I started teaching Japanese to a Kenya woman. She was an elementary school teacher in Kenya so she is just a sweet wonderful women. (Reminds me of Susan a little bit.) I think teaching Japanese to people other than American is truly fascinating. During the session, I was asked to explain what it meant to have 4 seasons in an year. At first I was like "????" but then I realized that maybe in Kenya they only have 2? Turns out they only have 1. So I went through all of the months and explained what can happen during each month.
My main job is to teach Japanese but it's really nice to learn something new that I had no exposure to when I lived in the US. Can't wait to see what I'm going to learn from her in the next session.

wow, sounds like a cool job!
did you explained to her in Japanese or English?
that's so interesting...i've always just taken season for granted. for me i'm learning about my own culture and not the other way around. i'm slowly beginning to appreciate some of the things my parents talked about as i was growing up. i'm actually starting to feel proud to be Taiwanese!
